Assessment: Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom

What is your reaction to the text you just read? The general feeling the text leaves me with so far is confused. Whether that is because I haven't read that far or not would be seen if I read on but as of where I'm at in the text, I'm not really interested in reading more. They're establishing a small society structure in Disney with one girl which is an interesting enough premise but it isn't well explained on what that means in general. Are there more like her? It is mentioned that she is only in charge of so much so who is in charge of the rest? They also mention that their are still guests, so clearly this isn't what all of society is like. If so, what is the rest of the world like at this point in time that is being created? While I'm sure these questions will be answered later, I don't think they should be my main thoughts as I initially read, I should have a general understanding of they two main character's world (even if it isn't a comp

Theme Park: Draft

Morbid Manor is a mansion filled with puzzles, mazes, and attractions themed around the short stories and poems by Edgar Allen Poe, bringing the mystery and morbid tales to life. The main structure would be the mansion, which is 3 stories high. The house would be inspired by the layouts and styles of north eastern american mansions from the 1800’s, such as; Castle Hill Ipswich in Massachusetts, Cairnwood Bryn Athyn and Fonthill Doylestown in Pennsylvania. It will also take inspiration from gothic european castle decorations on the outside. The first floor will open into a large foyer. In front of the door will be a grand staircase to the second floor, behind which will be an exit to the backyard and an entrance to one of the restaurants. The entire first floor will be themed around the short story, “Masque of the Red Death”. To the right of the entrance to a dark ride that goes through the first floor, playing out the story. Theme Park: High Concept

High Concept: Explore the Mystery. A mansion filled with puzzle and mazes themed around the short stories and poems by Edgar Allen Poe. Bringing the mystery and morbid tales to life by having guest solve puzzles and interact with small trinkets and shows between the main puzzles. Each puzzle room will retell one of Poe’s most famous tales, throwing the guest into the height of the plot. While transitioning from room to room, the mansion will carry trinkets that come to life as guests pass or interact with them, that relate to Poe’s poems or hint at the next room’s theme.
